These Australian grown and manufactured Tasmanian Oak hardwood pellets (also known as HWFP or hardwood fuel pellets) are ideal for making mushroom substrate for hardwood loving species such as oysters, lion's mane, chestnut, pioppino, reishi and many others. These pellets contain only pure hardwood sawdust, with no glues, fillers, chemicals or additives.
Just mix with warm water and optionally blend with soy hull pellets (up to 50%) to create Masters Mix or with bran (up to 20%). Pre-blended bags with either 30% or 50% soy hull supplement are also available.
The leftover substrate after fruiting works wonderfully as a nutrient-rich addition to compost or as garden mulch.
These clean-burning, sustainably sourced pellets work great for BBQs too as smoker pellets, giving your food that smoky flavour. Alternately can also be used as fuel pellets in pellet wood stoves as well.
