🍄 How to Use for Mushroom Cultivation:
🔹 Low-Tech Boil Pasteurisation:
- Mix rice bran pellets with hardwood sawdust or other bulk substrate (typically at 10–15% by weight).
- Add boiling water directly to the substrate mix in a heat-safe container.
- Cover and let sit for 6–12 hours to allow for pasteurisation and full hydration.
Hint, place in a insulated container such as a esky or cooler to maintain the heat for a longer time. - Once cooled, mix in mushroom spawn and pack into grow bags or containers.
🔹 Sterilisation (Steam or Pressure Cooker):
- Combine pellets with sawdust or bagasse and adjust moisture content to ~60%.
- Load the substrate into autoclavable grow bags.
- Sterilise at 15 PSI (121°C) for 90–120 minutes.
- Allow to cool completely before inoculating under sterile conditions.
