No humid room? Turn any corner into a mushroom fruiting chamber.
Dry indoor air is the number one reason home-grown mushrooms come up small, cracked or not at all. This mini pop-up grow tent wraps your blocks and kits in their own pocket of moist air, so oyster, lion’s mane and other gourmet species can fruit happily on a bench, a laundry shelf or a shaded balcony.
The clear cover lets in the indirect light that triggers pinning, the zip front lets you mist, check and harvest in seconds, and when the flush is done it folds flat into a disc you can slide behind the fridge. It’s just as handy for seedlings, cuttings and humidity-loving indoor plants.
What makes it work
Clear PVC cover
Holds humidity, lets light in.Traps the moisture your blocks release and the water you mist, holding humidity well above room level while still letting ambient light reach the developing caps.
Spring steel pop-up frame
Zero assembly.Springs open in seconds and twists back down to a compact flat disc. No poles, no tools, no instructions to lose — set up for a flush, pack away between grows.
Zip front access panel
Dial in your airflow.Open fully to mist and harvest, or leave a small gap to control fresh air exchange without losing your humidity. One panel does both jobs.
70 × 70 × 80cm footprint
Room for multiple blocks.Space for several grow kits or ready-to-fruit blocks at once, so you can stagger harvests or fruit different varieties side by side in the one tent.
What you’ll notice
- Plumper caps and fewer dried-out, cracked edges than fruiting on an open bench
- Less misting, because the tent holds moisture between sessions
- More consistent pinning across every block in the tent
- A tidy, contained setup that keeps spores and drips off your shelves
- Seedlings and cuttings that settle in faster with less wilting
Why humidity matters: Mushrooms are mostly water and have no protective skin, so in dry indoor air the developing pins lose moisture faster than the mycelium can replace it. Holding relative humidity around 85–95% at the cut surface keeps them swelling into full, well-formed caps.
Why fresh air matters just as much: Fruiting mushrooms breathe out CO₂, and in a fully sealed space it builds up quickly. High CO₂ tells the mushroom it hasn’t reached open air yet, so it stretches out long, skinny stems and small caps searching for oxygen. The answer is balance — keep the tent humid, but always leave the zip cracked open a little so stale air can escape.
How to set up your tent
Pop it up → place your blocks → mist the walls → crack the zip → harvest

💧 Grower’s tip
For steadier humidity between misting sessions, sit a shallow tray of water or a small ultrasonic humidifier on the floor of the tent. Mist the tent walls rather than the mushrooms themselves — water pooling on caps can cause bruising and bacterial blotch.

The Kai Kai Farm story
Kai Kai Farm is a family operation on Tamborine Mountain in Queensland’s Scenic Rim. We grow gourmet and medicinal mushrooms commercially, and we only stock equipment we’d use on our own farm.
A humid, well-ventilated fruiting space is the single biggest upgrade most home growers can make — and this tent is the simplest way we know to get one without converting a room. Pair it with one of our blocks and you’ve got a complete indoor mushroom farm. Have a question about your grow? Get in touch, we’re always happy to help.
